I had smoked maybe 5 cigars in my life and had no interest in smoking cigars at all. But after playing golf with some cigars smoking friends they convinced me I should give it a try. One of them even brought a cigar he thought I would like to the golf course. That began a new chapter in my life and exposed me to a culture, or two, that I was unfamiliar with.

That first cigar was called the Bourbon cigar as it was inbued with maker’s Mark bourbon. It came in a glass tube and sported a red wax top, Just like Maker’s Mark. I received some instructions on how to cut and light the cigar and I was on my way to becoming a cigar guy. I was drinking a bourbon that first day and I noticed that the combination of sipping the whiskey followed by puffing on the cigar created an experience that was greater than each of the single parts.
The next week after a round of golf we visited a local cigar lounge. I didn’t know such a place existed so it was a new experience for me.
Like most cigar lounges. This place had a humidor, which is a store where you can purchase cigars, as well as comfortable seating. Advised by my friends and the staff at the Humidor., I purchased a couple of Cigars, and adjourned to the lounge to smoke them. I enjoyed the experience of learning about Cigars. As well as the conversation. And camaraderie. bye
One of the more attractive aspects of the Cigar Culture, as we call it, is that people tend to be very engaging, friendly, and welcoming. I have made many friends in cigar lounges over the last five years, including some in cigar lounges far away from where I live. I have learned how to choose a cigar. How important is the wrapper? What leaves are the strongest? What types of blends are the most flavorful? And, how to pair Cigars with food and all sorts of Beverages.

Since I was a long-time Whiskey drinker, I was extremely interested to learn how to pair Cigars with Whiskey. I have spent a lot of time exploring this over the last few years and I am confident that I can always find a cigar to go with any whiskey. I. will share some of my experiences with you in this blog. Including what I have learned about pairing cigars with whiskey. I will discuss pairing other alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks as well?
